Welcome to IRACE!

IRACE (pronounced 'iris') stands for Interdisciplinary Research in Architecture and Civil Engineering. As part of my degree undertaken at the University of New South Wales, I've been given the opportunity to head some research in this field. Specifically, I'll be looking at how integrating structural engineering analysis into physics engines can turn video games (with their already spectacular graphics) into a more rounded design model. This, coupled with the interactivity of the environment and the first-person experience, could potentially create a powerful tool for clients to understand their proposals, and also head in the direction of becoming a total BIM solution.

Officially research commences early March 2010, but I'll be working on small parts coming up to then, and there will be some blog posts when I gain some interesting information. Stay posted!
